Traction control V8V

Good afternoon guys
Sunday was a lovely sunny day up in Cheshire, so I took the vantage for a nice run into Derbyshire.
While driving the car a bit faster I noticed the rear wheels spinning every time, because this is my first real sports car, im not sure about traction control, I now I have a button for it and it is not lit up, the button does nothing when I press it.
I think you will all say I should not be using it anyway, but I dont want to loose the back end on some country road at high speed.
So, does anyone know anything about the traction not working, I know it was working because I saw the light on, no message on the dash board by the way, car serviced November, Warranty ran out Novermber.

The default is ON. You get an indicator up on the dashboard when its in use. Although its quite small so not always obvious as you are probably looking at the road. Cold road, cold tyres, roundabout - its easy to get the traction control indicator to come on. Car doesn't actually go very sideways with Traction ON.
The system is pretty slow to react, in fact you are best to measure its response time with a calendar.
I had mine broadside last evening and not a wink on the dashboard (big smile on my dial though!)
It did kick in during the snow/ice last week, but only after a few seconds of axle tramp as the car tried its best - I was playing with it to see how good, bad or indifferent it was in really slippy conditions - not at all bad I'm pleased to say!

Even in the S with the 3 stage system it is not that quick to react.
I learnt RWD without traction control, it teaches you to be very smooth and read the conditions
It's my 4th RWD car, and the first with traction control - I hardly ever turn it off though.
In the dry there's loads of grip, so it wouldn't help (me) to turn it off, and if it's cold/wet there's very little grip and I need it.
I'm sure the driving gods on here have no need for it, but I'm not one of those
