54 here and I love the AMG exhaust on my 'quiet' cruiser. Love it when the revs rise. Live a little (bit more smile )

I'd get rid of the induction kit. They make a great exhaust rasp and you don't want it drowning out by induction roar - never a great noise at the best of times in my mind.

Slightly off topic story - when the 145QV was launched a journo used one to follow a classic car rally. He was punting it along the course quite happily and was surprised at how much attention it was getting. People taking photos and what have you. He realised it was because of the engine noise. The spectators were expecting some old road racer to come round the corner and instead got a hawkish breadvan.

Good man, nearly had one back in the day and saw sense and got a Golf wink

Now 36 and have a bright yellow lowered MkIII Golf running Scorpion s/s 'zorst, PiperX induction kit and 944 wheels in black with spacers.

Right old Barry mobile and (when it works!) I love it! Only problem I have is that I’m running out of front rubber whilst I wet myself laughing pretending the throttle is an on/off switch. You forget quickly how much liberty you can take. Still replacing all 4 tyres will cost me less than one front on the CS!

You are never too old to let the inner child out!

I had an Audi 1.8T to which I fitted an aftermarket exhaust. The novelty of the noise wore off after about 10 minutes!

It was ok just ambling around 30 zones, but became very tedious on quick 'A' roads.

But swing back to when I was in my early 20's and I was quite happy running two 'cherry bomb' silencers which really were noisy. I even used to do long journeys in said car(s) - I couldn't do that now though.

I'm 52 btw.

I don't regard myself as too old for the noise - I just don't like it as much as I used to.

If you're happy with it, then enjoy!

Where...?

ETA: I have read my post several times, and I'm trying to see the error of my ways, that you have so glibly pointed out.

They are pointing out thatyou did not point out the other errors in the OP's post. But given that it is all a bit sad I'd just walk away muttering "Bloody internet know it alls" and try again another day.

The whole lot was directed at the theshrew, who first attempted to correct the OP, come on, I thought that was obvious..

Grammar Nazis irritate me, but all the more so when they go on to make a string of schoolboy errors after they're done correcting!

I do have a superfluous comma, though, left from when I thought I had more errors to mention but decided against adding them, damn.

Oh well - I wasn't even correcting the OP - I was actually correcting "theshrew" who was 'correcting' the OP.

I guess the irony was missed.

Opposite end of the scale here. I drove Rovers throughout my 20's, they are meant to be old man cars. I took no end of stick from all sorts of people but loved those cars and stuck with them smile

Drive what you want and what you love. Who cares if people think you're too old for a loud exhaust? Really, so what?! Your car, your choice smile
