decreasing caliper piston size

Just musing over braking options for the current hack, what would be overall effect of decreasing the caliper piston size whilst retaining original master cylinder?

current m/s is 24mm with 57mm single pistons the option I have uses 54mm pistons.

You'd need less pedal movement and greater pedal effort for a given amount of braking effort
