Surely there should be some rule that if you fail your test more than a set number of times (say 10) you cannot take any more tests. If this idiot eventually does manage to pass they will surely be a danger to everyone on the road (and themselves).

An AA Driving School spokesperson said: "This is clearly an unusually high number of test attempts, but it is important to remember that everyone learns at their own pace. Their determination to pass highlights how important learning to drive is to most people. It is a milestone that many people aspire to achieving because of the freedom and independence it brings."
Hmm. Or he's just s
t at driving theory?
Hmm. Or he's just s
t at driving theory? I assumed these failures were for the practical test until I read the article - it's for the theory test!
Or simply one has to conclude - too stupid to drive.
(You can buy a book with all the answers iirc?)

The hapless unnamed 28-year old, from London, has so far spent £3,317 pounds trying pass the theory test, at a cost of £31 pounds each.

Mug, I'd have passed it in his place for half that
In seriousness, I agree that it shouldn't be allowed to go on. I think it would be reasonable to say no re-tests within three months, and a one-year "cooling off" after a third failure, and all subsequent failures.
This should apply to practical as well as theory tests.. But it will never happen, because despite the fact that the current system can allow someone clearly unsuitable to driving to get a licence through blind luck, it generates too much cash to be restricted like that.

Woah.
Given you cannot even attempt your practical test until you pass the theory... can you IMAGINE how much money he's going to spend on that (if he ever gets there!)
I second the recommendations for cooling off periods etc.
Hats off to the guy though - he is dedicated, I can't imagine failing at anything 107 times and wanting to continue.

Brace yourselves people...
The Guinness World Record for the most practical driving tests ever taken is held by Mrs Git Kaur Randhawa, of Hayes, Middlesex, who finally triumphed at her 48th attempt after more than 330 lessons in 1987 just weeks before her 50th birthday.
The world record for the number of theory tests taken is held by a South Korean woman called Cha Sa-soon who passed at her 950th attempt in November 2009.

I was almost close to giving up after taking my second theory test! (I only failed by one mark on Hazard perception!)
Failed theory test on my first two attempts. Got 40 in theory and 55 in hazards first time, and second time got 41 in theory and 68 in hazards. Piss take, whoever came up with the theory test should be stoned to death.CaptainSensib1e said:

Thinking about it, I'm sure when I did my Private Pilot's Licence that you could only take each part of the test three times. If you failed more than that, you had to make a special application for a fourth attempt or something. They should perhaps expand this to cars too!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff

That is quite spectacular.
