Whist out on a friends private road I got wheel spin at 120 in 5th while accelerating yikes luckily all I noticed was the tacho jump and engine pitch change and no stepping out at the rear,
Are those new fangled toyo r1rs any good?

Just give me your twin turbos and then no more wheel spins at 120mph!

This may be a useful thread for you...

If you are running T1Rs with all that power.......................I had a deathly shiver run over me smile

R1Rs have so much more grip but don't expect miracles putting all that power through!

I don't think any tyre is going to give me alround performance to the limit but the r1rs seem like a much better choice than the dunlops I have on there now, the thing is I need to fit my bigger 322mm brakes soon so will need bigger wheels too,
I have a set of cerbera 16" saturns and a set of 18" spiders but I would prefer the 16" for better handling but I don't think they're going to fit, and I know the spiders are made of lead laced chocolate so I might go mad and get a set of custom 17"

If you are thinking of a new set of wheels, could you run to a set of SP12s? Pic on my profile. I will post a better one from my computer later. Perhaps in a mix of 17/18 inch to get the nose down attitude? I see you are in Essex. We could meet up on a nce dry day if you like, as I am regularly in North Essex and could chuck a trolley jack and my SP12s into my regular car for you to try for size, look and driveability. They only have R888s on them, not Peter (Phazed)'s beloved R1Rs, but you could see if they are possible. You would have to go to see Peter in Surrey to see how R1Rs actually drive.

After I posted I went out to muck out, and thought to myself "bet he's got one more nut than me".
A blast would be fun. I am next out with the car on Thursday, and am at Abington, just off the A11, and Orwell (A603 west of Cambridge). If you are north Essex, then a lunchtime blast would be fun.
After that, if you fancy a bt of PH fun, there's a run on the East Anglia pages this Sunday. Starts at Thetford Sainsburys at 11, pub lunch at Swanton Morley, ends at Cromer for crabs and tes. Last one I went on was great fun and kept to the speed limits......in the villages.

One more thought. What diameter inside the wheels do you need to clear the discs and calipers? My B&Q tape measure says the 17 inch SP12s have an internal diameter of 420mm close to the wheel centre, 430mm at the inside edge of the wheel. The 18 inch rears are 440mm close to the wheel centre, rising to 450 mm at the edge.
On my car at least, with 215/45 on the front and 235/40 on the rear in R888s, I have no problems with catching on wheel arches etc. I have yet to do a hard long right hander at 125 mph on them, but the guy who specced them will have.
