New 997.2 GT3 Pics and a question
Discussion
Picked this up yesterday from Porsche Tonbridge.
I had a 997 GT3 RS last year (which I should never have sold) bought a 997 Turbo, which I could not bond with at all, as much as I tried to kid myself, and I can say that now without jinxing the sale as its gone.
And now this. Perfection. Lovely spec too and low miles.
I didnt get a chance to drive the car too much yesterday but if you go over a 100 MPH the dashboard lights up like a christmas tree with a warning, I am guessing this can be turned off?

Lovely - I was drooling over this just recently and even thought about picking up the phone ! It sounds like the limiter has been switched on which can easily be switched off.

Thanks all,
Its not a club sport but has buckets.
I can avoid the comedy threading through of luggage with the rollcage I had with the RS.
Lift, which should save a few splitters.
Engine mounts
Full chrono
7k miles
The sat nav & stereo/iphone for music/phone is a revelation compared to the turbo and old RS.
Touchscreen and postcode at last!
Not sure what else it could have had to be honest? I didnt have a list of options to look at but it has the two I really wanted.
The colour is strictly an RS colour I am told but the chap who owned it before me was 'allowed' to have it in thsi colour because he is a good customer, well...I haven't seen any in this colour!

You lucky bugger. I remember seeing that on the OPC used car locator and thinking what a beauty it was. The colour is strictly an RS colour I am told but the chap who owned it before me was 'allowed' to have it in thsi colour because he is a good customer, well...I haven't seen any in this colour!
I do get a bit irritated with Porsche's attitude at times. If you're spending £100k+ and want paint to sample, why should you be 'allowed' if you're matching a paint code of something they produce anyway. I can appreciate that some colours will be turned down because it's not economic to match but it probably comes more from a lease return, you'd never shift some of the colours off the forecourt when the keys get handed back 2 years later.

The speed limiter is active. You have to uncheck it and/or set it higher...I had a 997 GT3 RS last year (which I should never have sold) bought a 997 Turbo, which I could not bond with at all, as much as I tried to kid myself, and I can say that now without jinxing the sale as its gone.

Big congratulations. That looks like a beautiful machine - looks very stealthy!
I know you've had limited time behind the wheel but what are your initial thoughts in comparison to the RS you had?
Cheers

Well the clutch is as heavy as the RS, stalled a couple of times after the feather clutch of the turbo which was embarrassing with the whole shut down and restart thing!I know you've had limited time behind the wheel but what are your initial thoughts in comparison to the RS you had?

Then, genius that I am I drove back to central London on a very restricted section of M25 and then past Chessington at half term...
I need a 6am Sunday blast to get it really bedded in, roll on Sunday.
Seems as fast as the RS with the bigger engine, great torque.
Its clearly less raw than the RS was and less noisy as I had a Europipe fitted to the RS.
I can go from radio 4 to pretty hardcore which is the main thing, the radio was redundant in the RS which was a pain when driving to scotland for example, the motorway bit anyway.
Plus it takes some playing around with the rear view mirrow to see anything at all past the rear wing.
Will report back after some proper driving!

Please do, would love to hear your thoughts on the 2 cars. Both on my wish list once the GTS leaves the stable. Love the thought of RS as a daily, whole event, roll cage etc, but wonder if 7.2GT3 would give you 99% of the grin factor and a shed load more comfort and practicality to boot. The sun is out (here at least) so have fun with that new motor!
Cheers

I think your car has Sound Package Plus, which is really quite good. Certainly loud and clear enough to hear the radio at motorway speeds.Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
