This, I think is the main question left.

What do cars like this make on a dyno?? It seems claims of 'x' hp from engine and 'y' from motor and are just added together for a total.

But an engine only makes 'x' hp at certain revs and electric motors also only make 'y' hp under certain conditions/revs. Also there must be loses involved due to additional friction.

So are these headline HP claims somewhat bogus and fake?

I don't have the figures to hand but haven't mclaren announced what the power to weight ratio is? Should be able to work it out from there now

Autocar say 600bhp/tonne, they predicted 720hp. It looks like its way more powerful and heavy than they predicted then!

179ps?

Is it really worth it given the weight added? Probably needs that to lug the batteries

I would have thought it takes a LOT less horsepower to move 96kg worth of batteries.......
