Had these through this afternoon. There is a third party involved so it is going via insurers. They cannot give me a time estimate for the repair other than its a priority.

I've checked the legal position about taking it to a preferred repairer and I've been advised against that in the first instance.

I have to give the dealer the chance(s) to rectify the damage as they are doing.

That looks nasty. Where's the backstory? This thread has no context...

You have an inflated sense of importance which has never gone down well on PH hehe (ironically enough also fits the recent stereotype of Audi drivers)

Thanks for the link, I enjoyed the read.

very annoying but it will be repaired, if it isnt done right reject it until it is, st happens, it is part of the unofficial contract we enter into when learning to drive and buying a car, i.e. that something may happen to damage it, it may not be our fault and it may cause us expense, inconvenience and extreme cases injury or death.

I can see how it will sully your opinion of the car as it was new and pristine, six months down the line I doubt you would even remember it has had work, perhaps take solace from having two nice cars.

What is done is done, you cant change it, insurance exists to recompense and make good, it cant rewind time or have Audi staff executed.

The car will be fine, it is made in a factory by robots, it is made from thing folded steel, I am sure a qualified body and paint man can sort it out, when our car got bumped I couldnt tell when we got it back.

So wait, was this an Audi dealership who valet'd the car?

That B-pillar is bent, so it will cost a lot to repair I should think!

If it was an Audi dealership who were responsible, could an arrangement for them to buy the car from you based on a value without that damage be considered? I know you would be without a car but you could be better off in the long run...

Well despite all the lovely comments in the locked thread i'm still confused.

How exactly did this occur? I know the valet was driving, but did he spin? Get t-boned? What?

And actually more importantly, he was ok i'm guessing?

It will never be the same again.
You will inspect it and the damage will exist within the door shut, and because you cant see it, you will be told its an acceptable repair.
When you sign to take the car and agree about the repairs, it will whistle wind through the door shuts ALL the way home.
So, the car is scrap then ?

That is perfectly repairable, it will be quite involved but it is amazing what can be done, that is nothing.

Yep...Similar damage to my just gone 3 yr old BMW E91.Car driven by a very unfortunate new young driver pulled out of a side street as I was passing(apparently didn't see me) and took part of my front wing, both N/S doors smacked in.
Popped those doors out of true,B post damaged.
Needed new front wing,2 new doors, new sill, new b post (which surprised me given I initially thought you couldn't replace a B post) new sill cover, jigged as that side of the car was out by whatever mm,plus paint and all other fixings etc etc to get it back right, plus labour.
Fixed at BMW dealers body shop for a nice claim on the poor 18 yr old girls insurance of £6500.
Still got the detailed invoice somewhere for everything.
Might give you a ball park figure of the repairs the dealer expects to pay.

I was bit 50/50 over a write off or hinting at one given the damage, but it was a bloody good repair job.
Whilst it was in the body shop (6 wks) the MOT ran out. When I collected the car and took it my preferred MOT station they couldn't even spot any signs of a repair.Which is obviously a very good thing and expected of a dealer body shop.

OP: Thanks for posting pictures - I saw the other thread, and was interested to know what the damage would look like. Ignore all the pointless negative stuff - I'd be gutted if it was my car. Hopefully they'll fix it well without too much hassle for you - my wife's car needed some bodyshop work 6 years ago (when it was less than 2 year old), and the main dealer did a really good job. And I'm fussy. Normally the same garage can't even change the oil without getting something wrong (literally), so I completely understand why you're concerned. But repairs can go well too though, so let's just hope yours one of those ones.

Edit to add: forgot to say my wife's still got the car, and the repair is still just fine.

OP. I Just had my car in for repairs after some twunt reversed into the front in the works car park. Caused about £1k damage even though it was a 5mph shunt. Bonnet was bent and the whole front valance/bumper/skirt/grill needed repainting.

Anyway, it went into the insurance co's "Approved" repair centre with whom I had a nice pleasant chat and laugh about how the dim wit who hit it broke my pride and joy and how it made me sad and they said they would make me happy again. And I have to say it came out looking good as new. I was really very impressed with the repair job they have done. So while I can empathise my advice would be this: Be annoyed at the person who caused the damage but be nice to the people who will fix it for you.

Ask them to take pictures as they go - especially of the sill. I'd want to see it before the plastic cladding goes back on again to make sure they haven't bodged it with tons of filler.
