Cheap thread repair kits

Need to use one of these thread repair/helicoil/recoil kits on my bike, looking on eBay there are some kits that go for £30-40, where as some are less than a tenner: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/15pc-THREAD-REPAIR-KIT-M...

Anyone used one of the cheaper kits? Is there much difference in quality?

i used a £9 kit on some bits that wont kill me if the fail lol , the thread part seems ok , the fitting tool is poor quality

never used expensive stuff so cant really compare , worth a try on stuff thats not saftey related or high stress

Used several of that type of kit & not had a problem.
As with all tapping, use plenty of lubricant & take your time. The smaller the tap, the greater the risk of snapping it, regardless of cost!

It's an M10 x 1.5 kit, so I think the tap is about 12-13mm? Going into Aluminium (hence why the threads have gone!)
