I've just picked up a 1-Series, and I'm loving it. One minor problem...

Just about everytime I operate the clutch pedal, the pedal gets caught under the top edge of the footwell 'velour' carpet, and the pedal brings it back up. To avoid riding the clutch, or other problems, I then have to press on the carpet with my foot to return it to the floor.

The velour mats have some weak velcro type strips on the back which are completely ineffective.

This is really annoying.

Thing is, this happens to me with nearly all the cars I have owned and tried velour carpets: from my AX GT over 20 years ago, through to our family A-Class now, and now my new 1-Series.

I have to switch from velour carpets to rubber mats, which stay in place, and don't have this problem.

I can't understand why I always have this problem, but it persists . If it happened to everyone, surely it would have been recognised and fixed?

I'm relatively short at 5' 6", so maybe my seat position affects the angle of my knee / ankle / foot on the pedal causing the problem?

Does anyone else have this problem with footwell carpets?

Have you tried additional velcro tape to help hold it down? You can buy it in rolls now, only a 5 minute job to cover the underside to help it stay fixed.
