Dennis (publishers of EVO and Octane) are launching a new Aston magazine, edited by Richard Meaden (of EVO). Link to get a trial copy for £1 here https://dennis.subscribeonline.co.uk/home/vantage?... - no connection to me, they just sent me an email as I'm an Octane and EVO subscriber.

I got that too this morning. They are doing a money back if not happy with content deal so may be worth a punt Looks like it is well designed.

Excellent.

I am a current long term Octane subscriber and have been an 'on and off' Evo subscriber in the past so I will definitely be getting this. I've not received an email yet so thanks for the heads up.

(It's quarterly, BTW).

Reminds me of 'Virage', another quarterly that was published in France with both English and French text in each issue. A very high quality magazine. Hope they do better...Virage only lasted 1 year.

I'd have paid the £1 very happily, but it's one of those inertia selling deals, where you set up the direct debit, then they hope you'll forget/ don't bother to cancel it, so end up paying the full price for years.

It always takes me years to get round to stopping those things, so it's not for me

+1. So I won't do it.

And I sincerly hope it picks up but have a funny feeling it won't go very far. They are trying their luck in many areas these days: they tried lauching a more 'luxury' type of cycling mag. Not sure that worked very well.

For a few quid a month, especially if it doesn't last that long, surely it would be worth giving it a try, it adds a certain something to your service history file ?

£1 to me this is worth a go, I'll cancel it if it gets crap or if the mag's stop appearing.

Remember if you do online banking stopping a direct debit is a 10sec job.

Cheers
Andy

The magazine is also quarterly; so if you take up the offer, that's £18 a year . I don't think that's too bad, so that's about 3 or 4 pints of beer or a takeaway.
Bring it on, I'm looking forward to my first read.

You can pay for it annually with your credit card if you like, though I can't say having magazine subscriptions on direct debit has ever caused me any problems. At £18 per year its hardly a major fraud attempt.

Its an interesting venture, if they put serious effort into running it, and are imaginative in the articles they write, it could be successful. I am going to subscribe anyway.

I imagine that the BR PR department(!) has already been on the 'phone to them.

I also imagine that there might well be an 'Ask the Experts/Technical' section (hosted by youknowwho) and the first edition might well carry one or two ads from BR.
