Gents,

It has been a while since I last dabbled in photography and well I have been thrown in the deep end. As a company, we need to photograph interiors in homes as well as exteriors. I have a pretty good idea about the general principles of photography. But it is the associated file formats and more importantly software that will be used having shot the photos that is confusing me.

Just to let you know, we have a Nikon D7000 with a 10-24mm Nikkor lens - so not short on potential.

Now am I right in thinking that I will shoot in RAW, but what software (preferably free) would you recommend?

The camera should come with some sort of RAW conversion software. It depends on what you will be doing with the images but Jpeg may well be enough without an extra step of processing.

I HIGHLY recommend you set the camera to exposure bracket at least 3, poss 5 frames at say .7 f (It's in the manual)

This will not only cover any possible mistakes, and camera stupidity, but also give you the chance of HDR or digital blending.

If you are starting from scratch an investment in time and money to get set up with Adobe Lightroom is the best way:

Organises, "develops" (allows wide range of adjustments) and processes to any output you'll need, does slideshows, web, or print all easily, even does your videos. Very versatile. Some other RAW converters may be better in some specific area, but LR is a good standard.

I will set up the bracketing feature on the camera, I will have enough storage to do this on the card.

The photographs are for villa and condo interiors/exteriors. Re. lighting we also have a SB700 flash, but with a tripod I think that we should be ok without this in most instances.

Eventually, we will move onto 360 degree panoramic shots but this is a way off

By 'for' I meant the places where the photos will used. If they are only for website use then that mashes out mush of the original quality so, apart from white balance, personally I wouldn't get to worried about RAW. If you're thinking of glossy brochures or magazines then that's a different matter.

Ok. I've been looking at saloons but have not seen it listed. Does it have a particular BMW term in the options list?

Is it also available in the coupe?
