So . . . I have my allotted permit/applicant!

I currently have a second car residing in a secure underground bay, but hope to sell that car and stop using the bay. How best to deal with a newly-purchased second car and obtaining an extra permit without upsetting the Council?! It is a bit cheeky but there are plenty of households with no cars so I can't see it is that big of a deal in the grand scheme. I have a good neighbour who doesn't mind 'acquiring' (V5) my forthcoming car but the issue as I see it is that the car will appear to have an extra owner will it not or will it be deemed ok to keep the car in her name during my ownership?

Also how might this affect Insurance liability?

Are the permits vehicle specific rather than property specific then?

Odd way to go about it.

A number of thoughts:
Does your council allow a (legal( second car in your household? Surely that's the best way, even it you have to pay for another permit.

I wouldn't want to risk tampering / playing with the registered keeper, it opens a lot of legal issues.

Just checked online and part of the eligibility criteria is. . .

- Only one permit will be issued per applicant, and as its only me that lives here. . .

... in which case your friendly neighbour can apply, obtain a permit, and use it to park your car outside their house. Ownership of the car is seemingly irrelevant, and so is registered keeper, so no need to tinker with acquisition.

Second car permits have to be applied for by the missus or another in the household but you can still be the owner. That's how it works in Wandsworth.

As you say, you are on your own so I have no idea how that works. Some boroughs allow a second permit but at a vastly inflated cost.

Yeah, move out of the Soviet Republic of Wherever (border guards allowing) and join the rest of us in the UK.

To be fair, in this particular part of the world, it does make sense to limit each applicant to one permit, as annoying as it is right now. HoHum!
