Inspired by the buying cars for cash thread

Biggest genuine trade up I have heard of is a guy I know who for 4 years ran an old Mondeo bought for £1600 & traded in for £500 for a brand new 57K Merc ML (the Mondeo was his only car & the Merc was a 60th Birthday pressie to himself) he also paid cash, well money straight from a bank account but no credit/loan etc

Any similar jumps of car ownership esp only car ones ?

Not cars, but I went from a Yamaha DT125 to a Kawasaki ZXR750, over 100bhp difference!.

I'm still alive to boot!

a mate of mine went from a Ka 1300cc as first car then into Ferrari 355 after 6 months of passing his driving test. And yes he did crash it.

It has to be some overnight success popstar or lottery winner who'll win this one.

Someone I used to work with traded a 1.3 Ka for an Evo 8. Not a bad move!

Just traded up my Astons: 4.7 V8 Roadster to a V12 Roadster (c. 75k against c. 170k). Had to put in over 90k........hurt as I considered keeping the 4.7 and buying a 3.8RS with the change-up money

I'd have gone with your first option of keeping the original and having the RS; I just couldn't warrant the £90k to change up to the V12V.

Either way, you've got a stunning car now! smile

A few years ago I went from a 957cc Mk2 Fiesta to a 4 litre Jaguar Sovereign which was rather a change in surroundings. The Fiesta cost me £80 and the Jag was £440.
