Hello, I have a 2001, Jaguar XKR and I'm looking for an independant Jaguar specialist to take on service and MOT's etc. I've found a couple on line but would prefer a recommendation. Anyone had any positive experiences in the Surrey/North Hants area?

Thanks.

The amount of times I see NormanD push TL Jaguar I guess he must have some sort of vested interest in the company.

It depends where in Hants you are. As Norman says there is TL Jaguar,Racing Green Cars in Ash Vale or Design XKR in Andover.

I have tried all 3 and the best service so far has been from Design XK.

cheers

I used Racing Green Cars over a period of about 8 years, for everything from routine service/MOT to an engine rebuild. I was always happy with their service. They were not the cheapest but they were knowledgeable, passionate, efficient and really nice to deal with.

Chris Window, who used to head up the classic service section at Racing Green is the "Win" in Winspeed. There seem to be various other ex Racing Green guys with them, including Jay who was a Jaguar trained tech on the V8 engines etc IIRC.

No connection, just a customer.

yes

I believe that Peter Hugo, who headed classic car sales, is also part of Winspeed. Both Chris and Peter are top blokes. I have lost count of the number of occasions I went in for an MOT and nearly came out with a classic Jaguar boxedin

(likewise, no connection other than as a customer)

Yes, Chris and Peter run the company together, Peter handles sales and Chris servicing, rebuilds...etc.
Peter sold me my XK150.

Have you considered he just gets good service from them?
People do not have to have a vested interest to recommend garages, services.
Norman is always helpful on here, I presently do not have a good local independent when I need to use one I would try TL
On Normans recommendation.
I know neither and have no vested interest.

As you say I've had good service from TLJ ever since he went Independant a few years ago

As many of you know my XKR is no way near standard. Tom is prepared to take on board my thoughts and requirements
Often prepaired to work out of hours to get the job finnished and correct still having a smile on his face

I suppose it does help that we understand each other being like minded about the end product

Also as you must know I've been developing the manual gearbox for my car
I have to admit he has helped me no end on the spanner work, and not once has he complained
when I've suggested we take the box out just one more time for an upgrade to parts
