First ever post on PH, although look every day usually through 'Readers' Cars' section.

I'm 24 and work as a Greenkeeper, only been doing it for 3 years but finding that i cant really make a decent living out of it.
On £6.50 in a full time job at the minute taking home £1000 per month after tax, I worked as a greenkeeper in Norway last year and was on £16 per hour and as much as i enjoyed Norway i want to settle down and get my own place.

Which leads me to wanting to change careers, been looking at Procurement to become a buyer, thinking about sitting CIPS level 3, only thing stopping me is getting a job with no experience at the end. Having looked through a lot of job ads for buyers they all want at least 2 years experience.

Anyone on here gone down the CIPS distance learning route and had success?, and recommended a distance learning company to go with.

any help or advice is appreciated, even if its a different career altogether!.

You could always get an admin role in a buying dept, study whilst there, then join those two together when eventually applying for buying roles? Just curious; what sparked the green keeper to buyer trajectory? Do you have previous insight?

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply!

Looks to be a good way of doing it through an admin role first. Always had an interest as its what my dad does for a living but lives in london now, been contemplating doing the training for the past couple years but kept putting it off as i was unsure i would manage, decided over the last few months that i will never know if i don't try it.
