Possibly a daft question regarding this silver 996 GT3 for sale at an OPC (in USA).
Dealer tells me they have just taken it in part-ex and that they don't believe it has been resprayed (although a full inspection to follow).
They sent me the following pics in which the underside appears yellow.
Would these areas normally be body coloured?
Any informed opinions would be gratefully received.
Many Thanks in advance.

Having done a little more research I wonder whether yellow (on the underside floorpan of the silver car pictured above) is the normal appearance of (this batch of) floorpan e-coat?
The GT3 in this (quite interesting) article by NineMeister appears to have a relatively gray floorpan e-coat that is a different colour from the bodywork:

Can anyone be arsed to look under their 996 GT3 and let me know whether it's similar to these pictures and different from the rest of the bodywork?
Many thanks.

I'd look under mine for you, but you've already found a thread about it :P

I don't know enough to tell you conclusively either way, but it does look bloody odd having that much yellow under a silver car, and I'd be surprised if it left the factory looking like that.

That said, mine was completely original and was grey underneath, but something about having yellow overspray on silver e-coat underneath feels more 'right' than this silver overspray on yellow. It also doesn't look as much like overspray on that silver one as it does on mine - it seems a quite uniform yellow. Even the engine block looks a bit yellow!

Surely the delivery spec would show the original colour. That's not to say it hasn't been an additional colour since, I guess!

The e-coat on the MK2 is a yellow colour; that car looks absolutely factory underneath. The Ninemeister car is a MK1 and used a different process.

Colour me a (genuine) shade of surprise yellow, then!

Very interesting indeed. Now the only thing I'd have against it is that it looks odd. It won't sound odd at full chat, though...

Morning young man. Sorry I didn't ring you back ! Did you get your battery issue sorted ok ?

Probably will sound a bit odd, but easily fixable with a decent exhaust system . . . biggrin

Morning! Yep, battery issues sorted (needed to get the tracker battery done too - yawn). Now running a brand spanking Bosch Silver. Thanks heaps for the help.

Your 964RS is looking fantastic. Let me know if you've any plans to come London-wards anytime soon, Henry. Perhaps we'll end up talking about exhaust systems biggrin

There, almost brought this back on topic. (The 964RS is yellow, OP!)

Hi. If previous owner has applied an additional underbody wax seal then this can show up yellow just like your picture.
