On my PC 'Windows Media Player' has decided not to work, if I try to open a file I get an error message saying 'Windows media Player has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience'

Any ideas?

Try running detect & repair or just download the latest version of MP. Is it only certain filetypes that cause it?

I have downloaded the latest version ,I have also downloaded the latest Windows XP service pack but has not cured the problem. It is only .MPG files that will not play .AVI etc are fine.

Are you trying to play films? Could be your codecs - you may need to reload DivX (get version 4 because 5 has spyware in it).
