Hello chaps! I need some help from the PH collective because my Range Rover wheels and tyres were stolen from my garage last night, and neither my home insurers nor car insurance will cover the claim - one because they are parts of a motorised vehicle, and the other because they were not actually on the car. So I'm roughly £2k out of pocket with no way of using insurance to get anything back.

They are 20" wheels (see pictures)and I only bought them last year. They have two part worn Continental Contact tyre, plus two Toyos which are conspicuous because they are nearly new but both are badly worn on the outer edges because the tracking on my car was out last year.

If anyone sees an advert anywhere for some similar wheels, especially in the South Yorkshire, North Notts, Derbyshire areas, but anywhere in the North really, can you please e-mail me? Thanks.

Set of them available new at about £1000-1200 plus VAT if you look.

Sold two sets last week, not yours though.

More than likely nicked just for the alloy scrap value, look at the local scrap yard as well as looking on the bay.

the insurance issue is concerning!

i keep my winter or summer wheels and tyres in the garage - think i need to ring my broker?

i'm in Notts and will pass the word

was anything else stolen or were you 'targetted' for the wheels/tyres suggesting someone 'knows' you?

Agreed - worth noting and speaking to insurers!

Will pass on info to LR/RR mates in the frozen north. Worth setting up an eBay watch?

scrap value - doubt it unless they don't know prices?

only recently i was selling some 20" RR wheels - was offered £90/100 for all four from varies scrap yards

each weighed about 25kg so paying about £1/kg!!

they will appear on Gumtree or similar free ads papers - too risky online as FFRR owners tend to be quite astute and spot 'bargains'

You just said it, they don't care and just want the quick turn round for bucks, yes I know some will say it's more differcult to sell the scrap but I tell you they have ways of moving them on for cash.

We have to lock up our scrap alloys now as if we did not it would be gone.

I could be wrong but this is from my experiance in Surrey.

same here in Notts - if you have scrap for sale - manholes covers even, there are always those who will buy!

my neighbour is a small scrap dealer specialising in recycling - fully licenced and will NOT take anything dodgy - but he tells me what he has been offered - the mind boggles!!!

Morning chaps! Thanks for all the replies - I realised last night when the Police came round that my Boardman bike and some extra bike wheels and accessories have also been taken. I'm monitoring eBay and Gumtree, as well as FullFatRR ads, and there is a dealer locally who sells Boardman spares so I'll keep an eye on his eBay account as well (not suggesting he has anything to do with it but he could unwittingly buy my bike). The insurance thing is definitely an issue. I'm looking at other providers now to see if anyone includes car parts in their insurance. Meanwhile, I'm fitting an alarm system in the near future. I think this was an opportunistic theft, but the wheels weren't taken for scrap because they didn't take the damaged old wheels that were sat there as well... (needless to say, they have been moved to a safe place owned by my brother).

With the extra info I would agree.
