The Bamford Rose process begins..
Discussion
The Bamford Rose process begins... Having had my car for 18 months and 14k miles I decided to take the plunge and see what magic BR can work. I had been getting itchy feet and looking at various Ferraris including the 430 and California but decided I prefer the stylishness of Astons.
So yesterday Mike came to collect my car and I then winged it of to warmer climes. It's getting the manifolds and decat plus the new profile inlet cam, so hoping for about 60 bhp and a more sporty drive. I'm also getting a fully geometry and corner weight check and setup and hope this will help the sport pack deliver the goods. If that fails then it will be the BR special dampers next.
Also getting year 5 service and rear brake pads / poss disks and a few boggles looked at.
To top it off Paddy will be going in to work his magic and I have opted for his new sealant that should help keep the shine longer. BR have a space in their workshop for him which means no more gazebos needed.
Instead of post holiday blues I will have new car excitement. Life is so hard sometimes : )

Brilliant - finally the Le Mans edition is getting the goods to back up its name!
I can't recommend the switchable suspension highly enough. A push of a button turns the car from a continent crushing GT to a very pointy and direct sports car. Seriously, if you can, you should
Suddenly my car has become a bit of a weedy pigeon. Lots of BR Astons with more oomph now

Simply put, you won't regret it. And I know what you mean, I had that "gonna pick up a new car feeling" leading up to collecting it from B.R. Fastontastic! (O.K that was a bit cheesy)
What have you had done? I know the exhaust has because my windscreen imploded when I followed you out of the services last week

Exhaust, some fresh paint to get rid of stone chips and venture shield. Alcantara wheel being fitted (hopefully) next weekend.
, it plays quite a tune..The exhaust will make a noticeable difference to the way it drives. It definitely isn't all just noise.
Should we form a BR club? only joking. You must go for the swicheable suspension , the difference is really amazing. The softer ride is so nice when you are just cruising , switch to firm and the car really sharpens up. BR don't just bolt them on, they set the whole geometry up. Lightened flywheel and twin plate clutch makes the engine rev like a b
d.The great thing is as you do one thing then another at BR the sum of the whole parts justs gets better.

Why joke..? There is talking a register so customers and future owners know what's what.Think about it... Imagine you go and look at a car that has had the 'BR treatment' and all that's done is an exhaust switch!
Nice to know what's what and there is constantly new stuff coming out.
I now have the prototype heel & toe throttle pedal extension. Yes you can buy the big pedal elsewhere but what the sellers don't know is that unless you strengthen the pedal box, the car can go into an error state as the angle isn't right. You need BR's knowledge for this stuff

Congrats Stuart on the upgrades, you will notice a huge difference with 60BHP
Jeff stop twitching and get your money out, if you smile now, wait until you have had the BR attention to detail....
Looks like Lance needs some additional treatment, there is another 570BHP V12V out there now
(although this one is a 700mile V12VR)

It was still on the ramp on Friday so you still maybe in a class of your own.

(although this one is a 700mile V12VR)Only 12 days to go... not that I am counting.
I spoke to Bruce and Mike about the certification of the work undertaken and on the basis that it does underpin the value of the car, it is definitely worth having something. Lewis has a suggestion hat he may care to share. Given that Bruce told me that over half on the cars going to JLC will have been worked on by BM, there should be some publicity/endorsement of both parties enthusiasm to make our great cars even better.

Cockers, what are you thinking of adding? For me I wonder when it will all end? Somewhat poorer would be Mollys guess.
I have e.mailed Bamford Mike with a suggestion of supplying a certificate of authenticity and maybe a BR register with every enhanced car.
Any thoughts?
Yeti & I talked about a registry with Mike late last year.I have e.mailed Bamford Mike with a suggestion of supplying a certificate of authenticity and maybe a BR register with every enhanced car.

I think it is a great idea.
I like the idea of some form of registry or certification scheme, but to mean anything, it must add value either in a monetary or desireability form. And as many of our cars will end up back on a dealer forecourt, I think that there will need to be recognition from Aston Martin themselves in order to achieve this.
I'm guessing that the first stage would be for BR to become authorised in the same way that other independents are, but I'm not sure what restraints they will have to work under. And not having restraints, I suspect, is the thing that makes BR what it is.
Of course, mike knows his business better than all of us, along with the industry in which BR operates. But if BR want positive support in order to gain the recognition they deserve, then I'm sure there will be plenty of us here that would be only too pleased to help.
Just my thoughts.................

No way AM will validate BR IMHOI'm guessing that the first stage would be for BR to become authorised in the same way that other independents are, but I'm not sure what restraints they will have to work under. And not having restraints, I suspect, is the thing that makes BR what it is.

I think Mike is thinking along the lines of Alpina for BMW and Kleeman for Merc?

I don't think that BR want to be an AMG or Brabus to Merc. It would make sense for them to continue to enhance their brand by garnering the enthusiasm of their expanding customer base by providing the "wow" factor for our cars without being hidebound by AM constraints of what they can do. We benefit with developments which AM can't/won't undertake, which are pretty much on-going nowI think Mike is thinking along the lines of Alpina for BMW and Kleeman for Merc?
From what I understand, the expansion of BM, due to their hard work and dedication to customer satisfaction now has a momentum of it's own. Long may it last.

and that is why I specifically didn't mention AMG or Brabus as they are "hidebound"I could have made the Kahn comparison but I think Mike may well sabotage my 5.0 V8 if I do that

Aren't there two? Guycord's car as well?

My weedy 520bhp makes me sad now

Uncle Bruce has found another 10bhp or so for Geneva with some newer profiled cams though

No seriously he went for the diesel variety that has more torks

After much anticipation I have my car back from Bamford Rose and what a transformation.
It’s a real Jekyll and Hyde. The engine now really does rev so much more freely and the exhaust note…. my gf described it as orgasmic! But keeping the valve closed keeps it as civilised as standard.
The switchable suspension makes the handling much more confidence inspiring and I’m activating the transaction control much less. Last but not least the big brakes are really good.
Paddy did a great job on the detailing and I had him work his magic on the inside as well - apparently not many people have the interior done but as that's the bit I see when I'm driving... its as good as new now.
I now have a smooth DB9 and a screaming banshee. I just want to keep going out for another drive.
