That is probably ( definitely) the wrong description but on the 996 convertible there is a hub assembly at the front of the roof ( where the claw comes out), It is connected with 4 torx bolt and able to be removed once the bolts and electrical connectors are unplugged.
The metal claw that clamps the roof to the windscreen surround has a plastic sheath over it and mine has snapped. I unbolted the hub today and upon inspection quickly put it back eek
It looks a pig of a job to replace this plastic hook cover so if any one has completed this job or indeed found someone with the knowledge to do so your advise will be welcome. It is part number 12 i need to fit.
I am guessing this is a very rare thing to happen so don't hold out much hope but if you don't ask you don't get smile

Hi 20mins to replace the plastic cover, open roof and cut the plastic away from metal hook, then on the new cover where the round pin goes through cut this at the top to remove a small wedge,so its still tight to slide over the pin, apply contact adhesive to both the metal hook and plastic cover then push together, leave for 30mins,all done.
