I've just replaced my crank oil seal and had to use the airgun for ages to get the bolt out but I can't find what to torque it back up to and I can't find my SH bible! I've searched the web but I'm finding lots of different values, what's the best, I'm also putting a new bolt in to be on the safe side.
Cheers
Mike

140 is even lower than the other figures I had found, I read all sorts from 150 to 210! I was tempted to just air gun it back up but it was a pig to shift and with reading about the bolts snapping I figured best to torque it up properly

I have to do mine tomorrow and have just gunned it up for now but will torque up tomorrow to at at least 140 lbs.

So what's the best way to stop the crank turning while torquing?

My plan was rear wheels chocked,in 4th with girlfriend pressing brakes as hard as she can but I'm open to better suggestions?

Easy, handbrake on, leave it in 5th gear. No need to chock.

Piece of wood between the crank and block.

Just did mine yesterday to 150 ft.lb (203 N.m)
As above 5th gear, handbrake on and wheels chocked if necessary to prevent the car running forward. Much easier than getting the dam thing off.
