Hello,
After the Lotus Elise, I would like a TVR, but which one?
I'm french, so it's not easy for me... There is not many people who could help me. I think, I should go in UK to find my dream!
Homologation is difficult in France and I would like a car that I can drive daily (or at less, very very often!).
My favorites are the Tuscan, Griffith and Cerbera... Problem... I can buy only one...
Three cars, three motors... I know the V8 Rover is the most reliable and easy to maintain in France. But what do you think about the Speed 6 and the AJP?
It is my principal question.
Listening my heart I would like to buy a Tuscan. Listening my girlfriend, a Cerbera for the 2+2... and, if it is to complicate to maintain a S6 or AJP in France, I will buy a Griffith.
Could you help me in my choice?

Serious answer, after breaking down in France (electrical fault) in my Rover V8 powered Ginetta, I would go for an RV8 powered car. It won't scare garages, you can get parts easily, it doesn’t need specialist knowledge. The garage near Le Mans that sorted the Ginetta also looked at the Tuscan (we always stay in the same village) he said he was glad it wasn't that car he had to fix.
The Tuscans have all sorts of interesting issues around electrics etc, all can be sorted but you need someone who knows their way around the car.

I'm French, went to the UK to get myself a nice looking Tuscan S.
Still don't regret it, it's going to be two years in a couple months and haven't had any issues with it. My girlfriend loves the Tuscan way more then any other TVRs I think it's the Targa that does the trick !

I have a Cerb and have owned and driven a Chim through France and Europe. If i were you i would pick the Griff.......
Roof off driving is a must in a nice climate so rules out the Cerb.

And easiest to live with service wise as well. It will still be as fun as the other TVR's

As said, for a Speedsix car you could take a ferry across to Southern England to one of the specialists like Str8Six.
If you can find a sorted Tuscan then daily use is the best thing.
Have you driven a Griff or a Tuscan ? It may be worth your while to try and either get to a French or UK meet or plan a visit to a dealer. That way the decision to go for a RV8 Griff ( 5ltr
) may be easy.

If you are in France I would get a Tuscan, you can at least take the roof off and remove the rear window, or as has been mentioned a Griff or a Chim but having owned a good Tuscan before If I was staying in a hotter climate that is the car I would choose. Just visit england once a year for a service. You won't regret a Tuscan I have a cerb now but still have a soft spot for the Tuscan.
I you like the Griff, why not look at the rare Chimaera 500? It as the same engine as the girff plus a bigger boot for road trips and weekends away.

Plus, that dealer regularly sells cars into Europe. The green Chimaera500 on their website has recently been sold to a client in Germany I believe.

I would strongly urge you to drive good examples of the Chim/Griff, Tuscan and Cerbera respectively before you decide. They're very different in character and it's very probable that one of thse flavours will agree with you much more than the others.
After that, you might or might not want to take into account that the later the car, the more specialist knowledge it will need to keep in tip top shape, and even then running costs will probably be 2-3 times those of the Rover V8 engined ones (not just because of the engine I'd hasten to add).
