Hi,

The gear lever on my car is very vague. Adrian at Exactly-TVR said this is due to the nylon bush at the bottom of the gear lever being worn/missing.

Are replacements or substitutes available?

Also I've heard the door handles are off a MkII Cortinia - is this correct? I need to get a new drivers lock.

Thanks.

Simon,

The door handles are indeed Cortina (think MKIV or V) and I believe were used on TVR's up to the 'S' series (these have TVR stamped into them - new logo though..) so new barrels shouldn't be a problem.

As far as I can remember from the work I did on my car the bush on the gearbox is attached to the gear lever itself which maybe cut down to suit on the TVR - I don't know if there is a beefier version but there are plenty of specialists dealing with these engine's still. Checkout the oily pages.

Andy.

Simon's 3000M has the earlier Cortina Mk2 handles. Later M-series, S-series and Wedgies had the Capri Mk2/Cortina Mk4 type.

Gearbox bush should be standard Ford Capri/Granada. Any specialist gearbox reconditioner should be able to supply one.

If you're still looking for door handles/locks, and they are the newer type, there are some for sale on eBay:
