In the Market for a new motor for the missus. Wad very keen on s2000's until reading about handling on the limit and driver feedback compared to our current mx5. However TBF she would rarely drive 'on the limit' - then I've seen boxster 2.5 prices and these look very good. How dothe two cars compare?

Do boxsters (looking around the late 90's models) suffer from IMS and RMS issues like the 911's?

Cheers

I would say go for the s2000, my mum was also considering both and I must say the s2000 we test drove was more comfortable, with better looking seats and no where near as dated in the cabin as the boxter.

I would imagine overall ownershiop would be much cheaper with the s2000 too! plus as mentioned there seem to be more inherant problems with boxters than s2000's although I may be wrong, my mother went for an mx5 in the end anyway!

I just picked up a 2.7 Boxster after looking at a couple of S2000's around the £5k mark. Both S2000's were in poor condition compared to the Boxster and the interior is no where near as bad as some people make out.

Either will provide a lot of fun, the sound of the Boxster is lovely and makes driving at lower speeds enjoyable too, something which I don't think the S2000 is as good at?

Good luck.

Boxster is the more rounded car in my opinion, more practical and refined as well as a great drive. If you can stretch to or save for the 2.7 that would be my move
