Picking up my new car tonight!
Discussion
After a good few months searching and a 2 week wait on a deposit, I finally get to collect my new car after work!
Its a 54 plate Nissan 350z GT in gunmetal grey, Rays alloys, full heated black leather and all the other stuff that comes with. 73k miles with full service history and paintwork looks immaculate!
Only downside is that I'm having to trailer it home as the two rear tyres are bald and I'd rather put my own choice on back at the garage. But cannot wait! Also one panel of leather on the drivers seat bolster has worn through but hopefully found somebody to sort it out.
Going to be a massive change, not had a car for a year as I've owned a VW T4 1992 van. So 280bhp RWD, I'll be taking it very easy for a while
Will update with pictures in the Readers Cars thread when I get some.

I was considering a mini! But noticed that 350z prices have dropped quite a bit now, into almost affordable territory.... after a lot of pondering I figured that taking out a small 2k loan could get me a much nicer car- I'm still young and want to have that slightly more mad ownership experience before I have to settle into a practical motor! Insurance is rather good on these too. Decided now would be a good time and when it comes to selling in a year or two, should still get a fair amount of cash back to put into a sensible car

Bald tyres...has it been sideways a lot per chance? Is it an import? Its a 54 plate Nissan 350z GT in gunmetal grey, Rays alloys, full heated black leather and all the other stuff that comes with. 73k miles with full service history and paintwork looks immaculate!

Are you working your way toward your user name? "911"
Looks good but I think I'd want to delve a little deeper - why would the dealer not be fitting new rears for you? Even at your own cost?
Trailering away a used but retail prepped car sounds mightly odd.
My other half is a mechanic at his own family garage so I'd get a better deal with picking my own tyres- hopefully some Pilot sports if we can source some. Also declined the included service as we'd like to do that ourselves- saved us £400 off the car purchase price by doing this! We also have access to a car trailer so it made sense to do that.Looks good but I think I'd want to delve a little deeper - why would the dealer not be fitting new rears for you? The car salesman was selling on behalf of a friend who buys all his cars from them and lives just round the corner from the garage (as proven by the V5) who wanted a certain price for his car. And the garage were happy to let it go for this price + their costs covered (an extra £100... not bad!)

Looks great. There's a lovely looking black one up for sale near me but its a late model and pricey. I looked at one myself but almost all of my driving is short urban runs. I'm only getting 22 to 23 mpg out of my 2.5 3 series so I'd expect a lot less in the 350. Hope you enjoy it.
Some people claim their trip computers show an average of 26mpg! I wouldn't expect anywhere near this from mine though- like you, most of my journeys are short 5 mile round trip commutes to/from work, then the odd 30 mile round trip into town. A and B roads too... don't do many miles so not too bothered

I wouldn't expect 26 out of it unless you drive like a granny and/or lots of long runs.
My average is 20.6 MPG. Judging by how often I put petrol in, it seems about right.
Don't forget these need Super Unleaded, which makes its drink habit a bit more painful again.
Great fun cars, but I'm selling mine, too heavy on the running costs for the amount of fun I get out of it these days.
Enjoy!!
Have you seen a silver one close up in the flesh?
Silvers the one colour I'd absolutely never buy a car in- but looked at one previous to my grey one and they do look great polished up well. Was quite surprised how well it showed off the lines of the car.
I opted for grey instead though as you can get a deeper looking shine in the paintwork!
Originally wanted one in the stunning Azure blue but the only local one to me that came up in three months of looking was a grand more than this one, and it sold the day before i went to view it (same day I put a deposit down on mine)
Grey was my second best choice so I'm happy. Looks a bit classier :P
