Where to eat in Sheffield.

As per the title, Mrs SVX and I are spending two nights in Sheffield this weekend, and would like some recommendations as to where to eat. We are staying right next to the train station in the City Centre.

Sheffield is great

Curry: get the 52 from outside HSBC in town to Crookes and get yourself here http://www.zarasrestaurant.com/ (or get a taxi if you aren't a poor student like me!)

Mediterranean: Ego in the winter gardens is bloody lovely I'm guessing you'll be staying right near there.

Ego is a chain restaurant and although it's ok it's on the level of Prezzo and Zizzi etc.

True, but the winter gardens are lovely to sit in forgot the nottingham house in broomhill for Albert's pies! And don't forget to try Henderson's Relish if you haven't before, Sheffield's answer to Lea & Perrins but much better!

Pho68 on London Road, the food is fantastic, the local orientals eat there too, in fact the only thing i miss about having to move back down south is going to this place for lunch.

Oh, and the hospital, but that's another story for a different forum

Just get a taxi to take you to Ecclesall Road

It's where most of the decent eateries / pubs are

The Graze inn on Eccleshall road is top drawer for food, as is Mudcrab. If you need directions PM me no problem.

Gastropub/British cafe: The York and Thyme Cafe (both in Broomhill) or Relish (Ecclesall Rd.)
Burgers: Mud Crab (Ecclesall Rd.).
Italian: Vitos (South Rd. in Walkley) or Papa Ciccios (Crosspool)
Indian: agree with Zaras.
Thai: Baan Thai (bottom of London Rd.) or All Siam (on Ecclesall Rd.)
Chinese: Noodle Inn (on London Rd.)
Japanese: several to choose from on London Rd.
Pan-asian: East One (in a retail development call West One, confusingly)

Also if you like Motorbike themed, then Mudcrab is great, it has a few motorbike memorabilia on the wall, because mudcrab is a riding style apparently.

There are a few watering holes along there, good for spotting nice cars too, i've seen the following along there
