As the rite states my car was driven into in the work carpark, I have the other drivers details and their are witnesses. Question is- she mentioned paying outside of insurance but is happy to go either way, what I don't want is to claim on her insurance and find for some stupid reason mine will go up because of it.

Many thanks in advance..

How bad is the damage?

If it's just a bumper scruff then get a quote and see what she says. But don't wait around for too long.

If you claim on her insurance, I believe this MUST be disclosed to your insurer.
It probably would be anyway as part of the claim.
This will probably alter your "risk profile" so you may be hit with a higher premium next year.

Last year I got hit in the works car park by some tit who drove off after giving three witnesses the "evil eye". Unfortunately for him the witnesses were all forthcoming so I claimed on his insurance (about £500 worth of damage). Unfortunately for me my insurance co just decided to load my renewal this year by £150 because of this, until I threatened to bugger off elsewhere and they "kindly" adjusted the new risk loading down to £20 rolleyes

I've mentioned this on another thread. There are a few insurers that do not charge extra if you have a non-fault claim (with costs recovered) against your name. I moved from Admiral recently because they DO charge for accidents (i.e. bump the premiums up), regardless of fault or recovery.

Basically, if you do go down the insurance route, check with future insurers what their position is with regards to non-fault claims. I don't believe that you should pay extra, hence why the Admiral group can fk off

Funnily enough my insurers may wear a strange hat with a nautical bent

As I expected really, I'm going to get a quote tomorrow then ill give her a call and try get her to pay out. I am with the admral group (elephant) worst luck. Is it worth speaking to my insurance or..? For whoever asked its a scrape on the door/rear 1/4 not sure if it requires a respray but I'm guessing so as its going to need some filler

Most seem to do this now, makes me angry just thinking about it!

Even windscreen claims increase your premium come renewal time (with most insurers).
It hardly makes you a high risk bad driver because a stone hits your screen, how on earth would anyone avoid it!

I can't remember how I found out, but I clearly went looking for this at renewal time- Direct Line are one of the few that don't hike the price up in the event of a non-fault accident.

I was absolutely fuming with Admiral anyway, so even if my insurance was free at renewal time I think I would have still left- the way they handled the claim (which was not my fault in any way) was appalling, and the hassle it caused would never be worth repeating.

I would like to know how they justify effectively charging for a non fault incident, surely all their fees (admin and so on) would be charged as part of the claim on the other insurer?

Update; i have given the area a polish and it seems there are only minor dents, even so it will require filling and paint :/

I know a great bodywork chap in Basingstoke, who'll get it looking as good as new for not much money. PM me if you want his number ( he's repaired my old S4 when my lad decided to colour the boot in with a stone, my Merc when I hit a deer and my wife's Touareg when someone drove into her)

If its minor dents and the paint isn't damaged you may be suprised what a dent guy can do for it..

I had similar damage on an old car, dents in same area but no paint damage. I didn't fancy filler as I didn't fancy paint - I was bothered about colour match.

He got it 99% which I was over the moon with.
