I noticed last Thursday evening that Rocky was passing blood when he pee'd. Not noticeably every time, but towards the end of his walk.
I took him straight down the vets where they examined him and tested his pee (conveniently left on the vet's floor in his excitement).
The vet thought (but wasn't sure) that it is being caused by a bacterial infection and put him on a 5 day course of tablets. Today, after 4 days, he's still the same. He's outwardly his normal happy self and you wouldn't know there was a problem. I realised tonight that the noticeable blood only seems to appear after he's been chasing his ball for a while. He's only two and a Jack Russell / Patterdale cross.
Anyone have any ideas? Should he be responding to tablets yet? I'm worried.

If you aren't already doing so then I'd suggest taking him back to the vet for a follow up on day 5.

I will be. I was going to call them this afternoon but figured they'd tell me to leave it until he'd at least finished the tablets.

You could call them anyway if you are worried?

Hopefully it's just a case of a simple infection which hasn't cleared up yet. I'm sure if your vet was really concerned he'd have booked in a follow up after a few days.

chances are it is a simple bacterial cystitis....bladder infection, however, also impt to ask Rocky's age and if he has been neutered. It can get a bit confusing if there isn't a quick response to antibiotics but a simple investigative procedure should sort out what is to blame. Back to your vet with pee sample please.
