Hi All,

My wife has just pointed out that there are a few small drops of what looks like oil under her car, had a quick look with a torch and its dripping off the lower suspension arm, follow this further up and it is running down the inside of the wheel arch in the engine bay.

Now it gets a bit strange for me as it appears to be coming from the upper gearbox mount where this goes into the arch see pics.

The liquid was very thin and black almost like water but had a feel of very light oil.

I have only had a look with a small light so will check closer at the week end but don't think there is anything to leak from up there. confused

Any Ideas what it could be, it seems to come from the recess where the rubber mount is.

Sorry pics off my phone couldn't figure out how to re size at the time. rolleyes

Only possibility down there, is gear oil getting flung up from the driveshaft seal where it enters the diff.

Although still an odd "high" location for it to get to.

I can get my finger under the ally bit to the left of the hole and there is no oil ( or whatever it is ) under there or anywhere else it just starts from that mounting and runs down the inside of the arch and drips off.

I will be able to check it better at the weekend when its light.

IIRC the Corsa has a hydraulic engine mount, it contains a fluid to damp the movement. Having these fail and leak is is a fairly common fault on modern cars.

Well bugger me I did not know that.
After a bit more work on Google it seems it is quite common.

Just have to see how much they are. I Looks quite easy to change.

Thanks very much.

That doesn't seem too bad to me! I just bought a new set of engine mounts for my Civic and they averaged out at £104 each (there is four of them). The largest one was £155 frown

You are right it's not bad. It's just a long time since I have bought parts for a car and they seemed to be cheaper back then :-(.
But that would have been for my MK2 escorts or SII landrover in about 1992.

Going to have a proper look in daylight on Sat just to make sure then get it ordered.

Thanks for the help.

That's a good buy, thankfully I can often find the same for my 106 on eBay - dealer parts getting cleared out etc.
