Hearing aid biege,MB factory colour?

After watching the car for the elderly piece on TG couldn't help but chuckle at the colour.Back in the late 80's my mates 200TE was exactly the same colour we even used to call it "hearing aid biege".Anyone know what the official colour was?

I didn't see it, but I'm guessing 623 Light Ivory. I think they still do it, it's just not on offer in the UK. Or it could have been 651 Pueblo Beige or 690 Light Ochre or something. Lovely colours. Have a look here: www.mercedesmotoring.com

For reasons known only unto itself, MBUK has decided to offer cars only in shades of grey. Have a look at these old colour charts. You'll fall off your chair at the choice. And most of these were solid colours, which when polished up are so much richer than washed out metallics.

They had an early 80s sl in either cayenne orange or apricot on display at mb world a while back -it looked stunning

I still regret not buying an early 80s 380 sec in metallic green with green leather on carandclassic a while back. The only thing that stopped me was no garage space..I could not bring myself to leave a car like that outside

It was a W124 200TE about as poverty spec as you could get and the Colorado Beige is the colour it was .

The Germans had about five shades of cream / beige but we got very few here. One reason is in the back of a W124 colour chart I have - a graph showing the relative visibility of different colours. Beiges and whites score very well whereas greens and greys are least visible

Every other Merc here in Düsseldorf is that colour. I think it's bloody fantastic, especially this time of year when they are all rolling on steal wheels. You occasionally even see the odd s-class taxi in the standard beige livery.

I had a little fantasty of coming into money and ordering an SLS or something high end in that colour. Banded steels and a taxi sign on the roof. Yeah.

I assumed it was a taxi only colour until I saw a newish CLS63 in the exact Taxi beige. I wish I'd got a photo, but I was too busy trying to scrape my jaw off the pavement. It looked amazing!

I`ve never understood Mercedes colour names.These are my past and present models,I would call them beige? but for both cars the V5 says silver.

PS:- I wear TWO hearing aids!!

Took me a long time to find that colour on a SL,they are all silver,blue or red.
I`m yet to see another SL the same colour as mine,they must be very rare??

And glasses? As they're certainly not beige.

I'd describe them as Champagne, since it's a light metallic, silver's probably the closest DVLA compliant description.

Hello, interesting thread. That beige does remind me of pus, not a pleasant colour for a car in my opinion.
