Nissan/Nismo Announcement

I guess it will hum well for the first hour, then pits for a recharge which takes 14hrs? Or are they going to install Scalextric powered slots around the track?
Or are they allowed to remove and replace power packs at pit stops?

Darren Cox, Nissan’s Global Motorsports Directorsaid Nissan is currently evaluating an undisclosed type of propulsion technology with the ACO and FIA and the feasibly of it fitting within the new-for-2014 LMP1 regulations, which sees a switch towards energy allocation and efficiency.
No specific timeframe for Nissan’s planned LMP1 effort has been announced.
"We're in uncharted territory here,” Cox said. “We don't know how good this technology is going to be. We're obviously doing a huge amount with simulation at the moment. We think we will be pretty accurate when we actually get there in terms of the simulation. But we need to run these cars and need to work out how it all works."
I read that as, we have an idea but have never tested it and have no idea if it will work and if it does work we have no idea if it will be ready in time.No specific timeframe for Nissan’s planned LMP1 effort has been announced.

Yeah thats how I read it. At least it gets them an entry at Le Mans again though without having to do too much, so the marketing machine can do its stuff. Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
