Have you changed either the HT Leads or the Plug extenders at any point? If you have low resistive plugs, or low resistive extenders and/or low resistive leads that can upset the rev counter..

Quite often it can be the lead from the coil to the distributor. If you have just changed all the leads try putting just the old one back, especially if it was fine before.

Do you know what leads you replaced them with (Magnacor for example)? I only ask as there are a few threads on here and I know this is a reasonably common occurrence and general concensus seems to be that the rev counter is detecting a secondary trigger spike, normally associated with too low a level of resistance in the overall ignition system (plugs, extenders, leads, coil).

Any chance you could post a video of the rev counter doing it? Might make it easier to "see"

Is that a top tip from a master?
It still wags like a very excitable puppy's tail

Mine was doing exactly the same thing but that was after an aftermarket ecu was fitted. In the end there was nothing for it except send it to Speedy Cables, works fine since it came back.

What did speedy cables do? And how did they cure it?
