After you changed the part, did you clear the codes from the buffer?

Simon's (JGM) site is helpful in explaining how to do it:

If you still get the same code, then eitehr new sensor is fubar or you have a plug or wiring fault.

thanks JollyGrnMonster your post has helped quite allot .. when i firdt got the problem the check engine light only comes on after about 15 mins of driving the car .. it dosent come on all the time, so when i got the diagnostic tool it said there was a fault code p0342 saying sensor a sircuit low bank 1 or single sensor ,
i have peplaced thecamshaft sensor and checkes wiring and the battery is at full charge but still getting the same code even after resetting the ecu via JollyGrnMonster info on doing it ...
its driving me crazy as i just want to no i have a car that wont pack up on me . so i can do long trips in it.
the starter motor works great and no problems but i was told this could be an issue
any info will be highly appreciated
many thanks

ok sorted now i solved the problem ... the scanner tool i bought was reading the fault as camshaft position sensor ... but when i did it manually it came up with the code 22 so yes just ordered a new knock sensor .... thanks guys for your help as this is only my second car ive owned and am not very good with mechanics and stuff smile
