So decided to take a trip to Wales for 4 days last week in my MX5 as had to use the rest of my holiday at work and thought thrashing my car round some A & B roads would be good smile

Did the Brecon Beacons last September so decided to drive to Mid Wales to drive through Elan Valley and then upto Llanberis to do the awesome roads round there.

Drove to Merthyr Tydfil after work on the Wednesday then the fun started on Thursday, driving upto Elan Valey taking some great B roads, weather was good and sunny but was bloody cold so didnt have the roof down much through the trip.

The route I took

https://maps.google.co.uk/maps?saddr=Merthyr+Tydfi...

Arrived at Elan Valley, was no one there so had the place to myself, lots of pics from here smile

Then took a slight detour on the way upto Llanberis to visit Dol Goch falls, good road on the way there, the B4405, with some good views on the way

and the Dol Goch falls

And then onto Llanberis.

Next day decided to drive to the Evo Traingle as hadnt driven it before, is a great road and was empty which was good, some pics

Decided to turn around and drive it again as it was awesome, got a quick vid driving

Didnt do much driving the next day, was planning on walking up snowdon but the weather was aweful, snow and fog so just went to take some pics instead, one of my favourites smile

Leaving on Sunday snow had fell over night on the mountains, got some good pics of my car in the snow on the way back home smile

Had a great few days taking in some awesome roads and the car was faultless, cant wait to go back again soon biggrin

Nice trip. I visit Élan Valley area a lot but I hope to go further up, Tal Y Lyn, Llanberris Pass, Evo etc, if weather improves from last year!

good stuff. there's still plenty of motoring heaven out there, despite all the naysayers

Some of the lesser-known, 'minor' and 'mountain', roads through Wales are also worth exploring.

I visited the exact same dam not many moons ago. Nice trip, shame about the fart can. Dare i say it but the evo triangle looks a bit fast & boring. A distinct lack of corners. Welsh roads are great but you drove right past a good one. Devils bridge to Aber on the A4120 not to be missed.

Looking forward to getting mine on the road soon.

It's not twisty in the extreme, but may I suggest you go for a look for yourself?

I'd go so far as to say there are a lot of really good roads between thee and me [i'm the opposite side of the country]

Do you know what would be really great. If you Welsh boyo's could rustle up a quick guide to the best areas for driving roads in Wales.
There are loads of us English in the border counties & Birmingham areas who venture to Wales of a weekend.

Even if its just a list of your favs it would be good for tourism & a nice gesture for your fellow ph'ers.

Thank you for posting a detailed report on your journey. Also, the google map link is great! I may well be following the same route a bit later this year.

I take my hat off to you sir.
