I know its been asked before but the search engine is toast again!!

I have the engine out on the Griff and want to repaint the engine bay area - black on black. Has anyone had good results with any particular paint? Any reccomendations?
Thanks

Halfords;1 large spray can of primer & 2 large spray cans of Satin Black was enough to do the inner wings of my Griff.

+1

Tip, cut some 1mm self adhesive black foam rubber (A4 sheets £1 available from Hobbycraft) to shape and stick on the bonnet roller beds to protect the paint and provide a little more friction so the rollers rotate

Thanks for your response and tips guys, all noted. So - what is the prep work? Pressumably I give it a thorough clean and degrease (any reccomendations on what I use for this) and then flat it all back before painting. What grade paper would you reccomend? Anything else in the prep?

That's basically what I did. I used 1000 grade wet & dry to prepare and then a light going over the base coat with 1200 grade before applying the satin black.
It's the masking up that takes the time!

I also reinforced / modified the clutch master cylinder cover and added a neoprene gasket so I no longer need to use sealant each time it is removed. There is a thread on this, see Jan / Feb Griff section

Link to clutch master cylinder, lots of useful suggestions: http://pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&amp...
