Where should I park?
Discussion
Well last week, I had the pleasure of getting all 4 tyres slashed and in all probability, it was the neighbours I'm having trouble with.
Since getting it back on the road, which took me 2 days, thanks to the locking wheel nuts on both front wheels being f
ked, I've been leaving the car in the work car park.
I only live 1.5 miles away from work, so I never used the car for commuting anyway but it's becoming a bit of a pain now. Every trip and every time we want to use it, now has to be planned and involves me making a 20 minute walk to pick it up and then 20 minute walk back home after dropping it off.
It's getting to the point that I'm considering just leaving it outside the house again, but obviously, I don't want it getting targeted or damaged again.
What do people think? Will the neighbours come back for more or are they likely just to leave it alone now? We haven't had any trouble with the neighbours for 3 weeks now, so was a little surprised when it happened, as I had hoped it had all settled down.
I do eventually plan to convert half the garden into a drive but that obviously going to take time. Plus it's still pretty pointless without some sort of fence and gate, which again will take more time to get that up. It's going to be a huge ball ache leaving the car at work, until I get all that sorted.
I have thought about parking it on the street and hiding in the boot one night but would have to do it when I have some time off work. Plus, I don't fancy wasting my time if the likelihood is that they won't come back anyway.

If your fag lighter is permanently live, have you thought about wiring up a camera (GoPro if you're feeling flush, £15 cheapy from eBay if you're not)? If it's not, I believe it's relatively easy to wire into the OBD2 port.Nothing to do with parking, as the street has plenty of space and they don't even have a car of their own.
They kept having parties every weekend, smoking drugs in the garden, and then when the parties got out of hand, they all ended up brawling on the street. I sometimes start work at 4.30am and it was impossible to get the kids to sleep.
We asked them nicely to keep the noise down, so they then kicked off with us and threatened to kill me and my family. So we then reported them to the police.
This carried on for several weekends until 3 weeks ago when it suddenly stopped.
And then I got my tyres slashed.

Buy a caravan and park it infront of their house. This would do nicely http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2-berth-tourer-Sprite-Al...
Then park your car outside your house, where it should be

The cigarette lighter doesn't work if the ignition isn't on and I can't help thinking CCTV would be pointless anyway. Chances are, it will just show someone in a hoody covering their face and who will prove to be un- identifiable.
Depends on where you put the camera.TheTurbonator said:

Live in Hunslet, Leeds and I did think of the over inflating the tyres idea. What would be the maximum PSI I could inflate them too, without them bursting on their own? Obviously, I wouldn't be driving it.
Oh - round there! Whereabouts? I work round there - in fact if you look outside The Grove on a weekday you'll see my silver SLK/red C1/blue V70 or my boss's A5 parked outside next to the picnic tables. Only place I've ever seen - or is it Holbeck - Where people have bars on the doors and windows. Wtf?!?
Yeah it doesn't have the greatest reputation and I moved to here from Cookridge.
It just looked like a very nice house. There a single row of Victorian terraced houses on a very quiet street. Well at least we thought it was and looked like it was queit.
Before we moved, I went and parked on the street on a few nights to make sure it was quiet before we moved. At first it was, but then after about a month it just kicked off.
I will eventually just do what everyone else does, and barricade the house, I'm not moving and the only thing I don't like about the house is the neighbours. Everything else is great, nice house and big inside, big garden and great location (especially since work is only walking distance away).
Just can't decide what to do with the car until I do build a fortress

I live in Hunslet too, the location is great, close to work, Morrisons just round the corner, just off the motorways, cheap rent, close to the city centre ect, etc. However I'm sick of the neighbours/type of people who live round there also, so much so, I'm planning on moving in the summer, but then I only rent at the moment so can easily move.
You could try parking elsewhere in Hunslet, the oval area, past the penny hill centre is a bit 'nicer', could be a compromise till you get driveway sorted?

Exactly, the location is ideal but as you say, it's just the people who you have to put up with. I'm actually already parking it near there. I did start off, parking it in Morrison's car park, as my partners Grandma lives in the flats that look over it on the far end but then I figured, works car park would be safer. It's got CCTV, security guards and there's always people working on site, so anybody walking around who's not known or not wearing a high-viz would stick out like sore thumb. Plus at least I can check it everyday and if I need the car after work, I can just jump straight in it.You could try parking elsewhere in Hunslet, the oval area, past the penny hill centre is a bit 'nicer', could be a compromise till you get driveway sorted?
I think I'm just going to knock the garden wall down and put some gravel down to park the car on. I've got a video camera, so I'll point that on the car overnight and also install a spot light so that things will show up better.
I also saw a sensor in Macro the other day that you install in your garden too. It's just like an house alarm sensor and if anybody walks into the garden it sets an audible tone off. Not bad for £40 but I can imagine it would get rather annoying if wildlife can set it off.
