Fronts are needing done this month, down to less than 3mm so looking for any suggestions.

Séat Leon Cupra 180, size is 225/45 R17, must be less than £100 a corner fitted although cheaper is good.

I had Dunlop SP Sport Fast Response on my GTI-6 before I sold it and I had no problems with them but at around £170 for two fitted I wondered if there may be anything better for less. My local mechanic said he could fit them for £10 per wheel so including fitting or without doesn't really matter.

I was thinking about some Uniroyal Rainsport 2's considering the amount of rain we get North of the border but they don't really show any real improvement over any other decent tyre brand. Any suggestions?

I was thinking about Pirelli's, you know, as a small measure of my support for their involvement in F1, are P ZERO ROSSO Asimmetrico's any good? Anyone got them/had them?

Not going to get those Pirellis for less than £100 a corner I don't think! If you are after Pirellis, a quick Blackcircles search says you could get P6000s for £97.06 fitted. I don't know about the Rainsport ones though. I wouldn't trust them by the sound of it, but then I've never used them myself so I can't really say.

I currently run Uniroyal Rainsport2s on the Corrado and I'm genuinely shocked at how good they really are.

I'll be changing my Golf over to them too once the winter is over.

I know there's a few guys on here that run them and rave about them too.

Have P6000's been significantly redesigned since their days as ditchfinders?

My Dad is running them on his MGB, fantastic tyre rain or shine IME, I'm considering them for my next set.

Rainsports are a very good tyre for their price.

P6000's? They're st! Your wheelbarrow would understeer into a dung heap.

yes
I Have tried a few different Pirelli over the years (car & Motorbike tyres too) horrible tyres with no Feedback at all.

I really don't see why some people rave about them confused

P Zero Rossos are available in that size on Blackcircles for around £90 and are very good tyres. I ran them on my RX8 for 2 sets (mileages etc are in my profile). It looks like the Neros are also sub £100 although I don't know anything about them.

Stay away from the P6000s, madly overpriced for what they are.

Another vote for Rainsports.

I'd avoid P6000s on anything but a heavy barge, even then they'd be a last choice.

I used to have P6000's on my Volvo C70 which is quite heavy and barge like. They lasted for ages but felt rubbish. Now running Goodyear F1 Assymetric 2 in the same size as the OP. Very good tyre but slightly out of the price range set.

OP, I've gotGoodyear F1 Assymetric 2s all round on my 9 5 Aero, same size that you need - paid £90 each fitted from a local fitter. They get very good write ups.

I had Uniroyal Rainsport 2 fitted to the front of my old car. I'd describe them as very good in the dry, and amazing in the wet. Would definitely recommend, even moreso for the price of them.

I had several sets of Toyo's on my Scoobies and they were excellent so can recommend them if you can get the latest "sports" from Black Circles. These replaced the Pirellis that came with each car and felt a little "skittish" on damp surfaces.

The Pirellis on my Cayman S were good but costly and very soft.......although that might have been my driving hehe but does go to show different cars with the same tyres react in altogether different ways.

Currently have Falken 452's on my Chimaera and they are great and despite regular spirited driving they are lasting well and give good feedback.

Bottom line to me is buy the best you can afford thumbup

So what about continental sport contact 2's or 5's? Rainsport 2's are moving up the list!
