hey guys need a little advice, before anyone begins i know its not particualrly worth it and i might aswell get a better car/ better engine, i know XD
im thinking about turboing my endura 1.3 ka with the turbo from a 1.8 endura transit, but i need to know how closely matched are the manifolds between the two engines, obv im setting up a seperate oil pump and feeds for the turbo so thats not an issue intake pipes ect ect, its just the manifolds im stuck with now, appart from de carbonising the insides and welding a new nut for the lambda i dont really want to put more than a 2days work into making the manifold fit as ill also be heatwraping it
anyhelp would be fantastic, im also going to be moving the rad forwards buy roughtly 1 1/2 inches and then cutting into the front bumper to make room for the intercooler, but thats not an issue

Not quite sure what that means? A turbo's no less desireable because it's off a transit is it? It'll be a Garrett or something anyway, obviously the spec varies, but it'll be overkill for a 1.3 engine anyway.OP, serious response from me (not sure if you're trolling but I'll give the benefit of the doubt).
Manifolds are unlikely to match, but the easy way to find out is to get the transit one and try it. Probably the easier way to do things is make a new manifold, or make an adaptor to fit the turbo to your manifold.
Anyway, assuming you can do that, and also sort the rest of the plumbing, how are you going to control the whole thing? Turbo engines generally need different compression ratios etc, to stop them self-destructing. I daresay you could run it at lower pressure, but not sure how you're achieve that.
There are people on PH who know a lot about this sort of thing, turbocharging is a bit of a science, just bolting up a turbo is asking for trouble if you don't have an idea of what else to do (I'm making a bit of an assumption from your opening post).
However, it'll be an interesting little project, remember to start a build thread for us all to read when you do it. Of course it's probably pointless, but that's not why people modify cars.

Honestly there is no point in doing this. Just buy a SporkKA if you want more power or look at something worthwhile. If you must, then I suspect you'd find it easier to mount the turbo at the back of the car, Google STS Turbo's to get an idea of how this is done.

and most cars of the same year have certain interchangable parts e.g. rear hub carriers have the same mounting points on a ka as they do on a focus, so if wanted to do a rear disc conversion it wouldn't be difficult, another example the 1.25 fiesta has the same exhaust manifold mounting points as the 1.6, different engine same mount, just because im asking a question for clarity dos'nt make me a freaking moron

t because it's off a Tranny, apologies if this was misinterpreted, but that's how I read the statement). I agree, your second statement makes more sense, a smaller turbo would be better, it depends if he has a transit one just lying around that's free, and thus available to use.

Fine, fine.Try bolting a 1.0 EcoBoost engine up to a 2.0 EcoBoost gearbox, or a Zetec SE engine up to a Zetec gearbox, then come back and tell us how compatible Ford engine parts are...
