Hi,

I hope this is allowed, I'm not posting an advert as such, just looking to see if anyone knows of a member looking to change.

I'm in the process of selling my BMW Z4 in order to buy a Chimaera. Now, the person wanting to buy my Z4 is looking to sell on his Z4M Roadster at a great price.

Long shot, but I don't suppose anyone on here is looking to sell their Chimaera and change to either my Z4, or my friend's Z4M? If so, I'd be interested in talking.

Once mine is gone, I'll be back to discuss potential new Chimaeras if I can't get a px deal.

Thanks,

Dan

Mark.

Hey Danny, about time too!! Proper car biggrin

If you want a look round one, give me a shout. It's not a concourse example but it's got a wheel pretty much in each corner and the doors shut and stuff smile

Also get yourself up to Southways and have Rich show you around one of the ones they have in bits.

Hi,

Cheers, yeah will bear that in mind. May well do that. I did go up to Fernhurst TVR and drive one of theirs, loved it!

Good shout re. Southways, I'll do that. I have found 2 within budget which look like nice cars, so I'm hoping I can get one of those if my Z4 sells in time.

Also, I'm looking at a few cars and notice they've all got different from and rear ends!!

I understand there was a facelift, front end changed, rear lights changed, door handles changed, but when did all this come into effect?

For example,

I've found a 1995 car with the early front, but the later rear lights. Old door release.
I've also found a 1996 car with the early front and early rear lights with old door release.
Then I found a 1997 car with the facelift front end, but early rear lights with new door release.

I assume the first car had the new rear lights retrofitted. Can I also assume the facelift front end, rear lights and door release were phased in in stages?

I wouldn't assume anything tbh - a car could've been in an accident and the owner chose to modify while under repair. I'm sure it's fine but doesn't hurt to enquire. Hopefully you would find evidence of any modifications in a car's history.

Yes, that thought did cross my mind.

I've done a search and see that it's quite involved to change to the new rear lights as they're part of the rear moulding.

Anything 96-98 can have pretty much any combination of front/rear and door locks. It's fairly "normal" as you quite rightly say they did "Phase" things in over a period of time.
My 96 has a Mk2 front, Mk1 rear, Mk2 boot, and silver door buttons, it also has the earlier dash.

Hi Dan, Glad you have decided to join the wonderful world of TVR ownership. You won't regret it.
There are many people on here that will advise and help as much as they can on your journey into buying one. Don't believe all the bad press, and if you do, the good times outway the bad times by a country mile.
Good luck and it was great to finally meet you.

Thanks, I'm quite excited about having one in time for spring and summer!

I have my eye on 3 cars at the moment, all of which are lovely, strangely, they're all different colours!

Ok great. TBH, I'm not too fussed whether I get mk1 or mk2 front or back, although I do prefer the later front end.

That does look stunning! Sadly, none for sale within my budget.

The cars I'm looking at are crimson red, green and starmist blue.

You can get grills for the earlier front, but not the later, and a grill is handy if you use the car a lot (I worry about stones through the radiator all the time).

You can (of course) fit some grill mesh in front of the rad on a later car but it's a "radiator out" job to do it properly...

Seen that, but it’s very high mileage (over 100k) compared to the others I’m looking at for the same money with around 40k. Plus I don’t really like bright red! Thanks though smile

Nearly run in then.
At 100k these RV8's just start to loosen up. Remember these cars are made up of old bit of tractor, Ford and Vauxhall smile

Yeah, I'm not particularly worried, but if I can get one with 40k instead of 100k for the same price then I'm onto a winner!

What's a Z4 like yours worth these days out of interest?

I have mine up for £6,250. I have it on PH Classifieds at the moment, but won't post a link in case it's classed as advertising on the forum. I'm sure you could find it!

Looks very nice.

I'm looking to sell the chim in the next month or so, but with the intention of raising funds not buying a new car!
