Very embarrassing squeeking from rear

Since having the shocks replaced, after a couple of weeks I now have a very embarrassing squeek coming from the rear - presumably the shocks? The shocks have had a slight tweak since they were put in, and the squeeking stopped. It is due to go back to Austec to have the shocks properly readjusted but I won't be able to get it there for a few weeks, so wondered if I can stop the squeek myself. Is it OK to squirt some WD40 down there? If so, which bits should I aim it at and which bits to steer clear of?

I had a squeek for a while when I replaced mine. Spoke to Joolz who supplied them and he said it was the valve just bedding in and it would go. Sure enough a week or so later they were as quiet as a mouse. I now only get the very ocasional squeek when I go over a big bump.

Yup, I had that. I removed the hamster, it went away.

I used to get a squeak when going over bumps, but then it stopped

Check your wheel hubs which may be worn, causing movement of the bearing.

Mine made a terrible noise which increased with speed. Solution was to have the offending hub re-welded and machined.

All better now.

Mine only squeaks as the car bounces about with the enevenness of the road. Barely noticeable at speed. Thing is, it only happened since having the shocks done, was cured after a service, and has now come back. I think I'll give Austec a call....

Apparently some "spray grease" is what I need. Off to Halfrods tonight....

The squeak is caused by the rubber getting a bit dry causing internal friction. All you need is a good lubricant rubbing all over and you'll be able to take bigger bumps a lot more easily.

I find that usually solves most problems........ although sometimes causes a bit more squeaking....
