SLS Question/Advice please!
Discussion
Hey all I’m new to the Merc forum, previously various versions M5 owner (sorry of the word offends!), Maserati and Aston Martin. BUT I’m just bored! The new M5 is pants, simple as that, small engine, girly/hippy turbos and the need to change up a gear at 6500rpm all equate to a boring ride and demonstrate a complete lack desire to build enthusiast cars such as the wonderful V10 model. So rant over screw the Bavarian hippies and time to move on…
I’ve been torn between a DBS and an SLS and come the decision the SLS is for me. Does anyone here run an SLS? Thoughts on reliability? Any known issues? Anything to be wary of in buying a used SLS? Really any practical advice or comments would be greatly received!
Many thanks

Yeah, its a bit of a beast and you'll love the engine. Its not as involving as the //M but its much more of an event just turning the key . I reckon with the SLS you should get better service because of the price tag. Us with the lowly C63's have to endure economy rates of service. Ha!
You have to get used to the attention ; this is my father in law`s . I know a chap locally who bought one and had big issues insuring it , although that was mainly on account of him being over 70 .
This one is about £600 a year ; running costs have been very sensible since it was bought new in October 2010 . Can`t think why you would buy one to do 20,000 miles a year though .
I have an SLS and my wife has a DBS Volante.
As an everyday car I would rate the SLS as better and more practical, certainly more usable and servicing costs well below that of Aston. MB would be more reliable I'm sure but I've not had any issues with the Aston but people have.
DBS is a thing of beauty, great presence that gets appreciated especially by Women, they love an Aston. SLS more of an animal with an awesome sound track

I'm still a bit nervous as Merc are new to me, but the SLS is one hell of a car and a wonderful sound track
