I'm not sure if it is?

Can you have a mild hernia? Is there such a thing?

I have a pain above my groin and just below my belt line.

Could it be just a muscle strain?

Its ok day to day but when I do pull ups or ping a long pass in football I get a pain.

It's not sharp just a dull deep pain. It's not bad enough to stop me but it can be quite uncomfortable.

I don't have a pain in my scrotum which I believe is a common side effect of the hernia.

I really hate the doctors and operations, I suppose I just have to man up and go frown

I had an umbilical hernia for a couple of years without releasing, had the op a year ago. Was pretty uncomfortable for a few days after, but was given 3 weeks of work, and felt like a cheat for most of it, as I felt ok for most of it. Managed to play on my ps3 a lot though!

There's your problem right there. Use of the term 'ping' when you really mean 'welly' or 'hoof' will often result in a lower abdominal injury or possibly a hernia. Deservedly so, some might say.

All the same it's best you get a doctor to check out your complaint. If it is a hernia you may have to ease up on the pinging for a while.

If you have actually got an inguinal hernia you should be able to feel it if/when you cough. Just go to the doc. smile
