I have reliable information that Ross Brawn has just bought a Ferrari 250GT SWB Competition for £8 million, making the deal more valuable than the 250GT SWB Comp sold at the RM auction in Arizona back in January for $8.14 million, or £5.4 million. Just goes to show that top formula one personnel are paid more than we are lead to believe. Still, investing in collectable classic is much better than putting the money in the bank. So much for cost cutting in the F1 fraternity, hey?

I'm sure he's on a substantial salary, but don't forget that he got a team for pocket change from Honda, then sold it on to Mercedes a year later - not a bad return on his investment!

This has diddily-squat to do with costs in F1 and cost cutting. This is/could well be his own money, amassed over the years and a profitable - if brave - business venture in the form of Brawn F1.

Good luck to him smile

It's up to Ross what he spends his money on. Good luck to him, and hope he buys another one....

Sounds like he's been studying at the Chris Evans school of bargain hunting. Probably investing his pay-off.

Honda paid Brawn to take over the team in 2009 because it would have cost them dearly to make over 200 staff redundant. Brawn also had to lend the team a few million in March of that year.

Brawn did this knowing that his car had brilliantly exploited the F1 aerodynamics.

His faith was rewarded with a Brawn GP team 2009 annual profit of around 100 million and the F1 drivers and constructors championships.

He then sold the team to Mercedes for how much?!

Nobody else has ever achieved anything quite like this in F1 and it unlikely that we will ever see it happen again.

Quite why anyone thinks they have the right to comment on what the guy spends his money on is completely beyond me.

Disgusting sense of entitlement demonstrated by Brawn akin to the dole scroungers typically featured in the Daily Mail. He probably claims DLA and has the Ferrari on a motability scheme. mad

I think many people in F1 have performance related bonuses, his time at Ferrari was probably a good earner. Certain aerodynamic experts are paid more than some of the drivers, too (allegedly).
