PH iPhone App

I am just wondering if PH will be making a app to access their website . Some thing that will help us upload pictures straight through our phones.
& just generally easily accessible.

If not who else agrees that they should make one??

Phone apps are a waste of time and a distraction from the main site. PH have a mobile website, save it on your phone home screen if you want an "app", they are more or less the same thing (and you can upload photos).

You already can with the existing mobile site, and there is a new mobile site on the way. There is simply no justification for an app - everything you look for can be provided through the browser.

The man is right..

An app becomes platform specific, it makes much more sense to deliver content, in a reactive fashion, via the browser.

Looking forward to using it. Its just its difficult uploading photos directly on from my phone.

Change the skin you're using to Mobile (Beta) via this link ... http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/prefs.asp?h=0&a...

Then use the main site on all of your devices, retaining the ability to upload..

If you're talking about the forum, we have a mobile skin that you can use. It's still in beta, and admittedly needs a bit more styling and cleaning up to do, but it has potential.

If you're talking about the classifieds, we're nearly finished building a mobile site that will allow you to browse and post an ad (including photos) using your phone.

We won't be doing an iPhone app (anytime soon, at least) because we'd then have to develop an Android App, Windows Phone app, Nokia 3310 app, etc. and all those require different developers with different skillsets. A mobile web app is accessible across all devices and we can do it all in-house in one go.

There is not, and for some time won't be an App - just a mobile version of the website. Open PH on your phone, and it will recognise that you're on a mobile device and it will open the mobile version of the website. I save a bookmark to the homescreen of my iPhone for easy access.
