Hi all,

I have recently purchased a 09 black Cayenne Turbo and it came with 19" silver wheels.

I am thinking they might be a little small and dont seem to fill up the wheel arches that well. I am thinking 21" or 22" might be better but I dont want it to look too blinging or 'pimped' out!! Not really my style and to be fair I am a bit to old for that kind of thing (although not quite dead yet!!)

I have been looking at 22" wheels with matching tyres on ebay and there 100's and this is an area I have NO experience with at all.

So looking for something that will look good and not cost the earth (they seem to range from £1700 with tyres to £5k)and also not sure if black wheels would be too much (with the black exterior and interior) although I quite like the idea of something a little different. I am also thinking I will keep the wheels that are on it and get some winter tyres fitted for the snow etc.

These I quite like these but have no idea if they would look stupid.......

Any suggestions on what you have or what might work.

Cheers!

Personally I think after market wheels always look a bit pimped for some reason and I would question the quality of anything other than the OZ/BBS etc. brands having found some very soft and easy to buckle (especially with 500hp pulling 2 tons!).

I would look out for a used set of Porsche items and have a refurb/fresh tyres as necessary.

I think the Sport Plus package wheels were 21" which are the multi spoke ones, you could try and find some of those...

I'd stick with OEM wheels, any others will look odd IMO

22's look daft on 1st gen Cayennes IMO. They're not designed for it and the ridiculously small profile rubber - 30mm according to that ad - make it impractical.

The 21" GTS alloys look great I think. Getting some of those would be ideal, but I'm guessing they would be rare and expensive. You can get replicas here http://www.design911.co.uk/fu/prod683/21--Style-10...

I've recently bought a Black Cayenne myself, and would agree with the sentiments of staying OEM if possible. And I also like the look of those 21". If going down the non OEM route, I would say deal with a reputable make/supplier/styling company who has experience with the vehicle in question, specifically the quality of the wheel options, and a good understanding of the required offset (ET). I say this, as some ebay suppliers will quote the wheels fit no problem (which they may well do) but if the incorrect offset is used, you will just draw further attention to the fact they are non OEM - if for example they sit out wider than they ought to.

I've always deliberated over new wheels on each car I own, and for what it's worth a simple Google search for 'Black Cayenne', and switching the search results to 'Images' will offer you plenty of pictures which can help with your decision. One thing to be aware of, is that many images of the Cayenne with 22" wheels may have also been lowered to reduce the gap between wheel and arch. So if you see something you really like, also keep this in mind as to achieve the same look, you may also be looking at lowering the vehicle. Again an OEM option will have been designed (style wise) with the original vehicle height in mind.

Hope this helps!

I think you mean 30% - 30mm would be a "10" profile on a 295 tyre! eek

An aspect ratio of 30% on a 295 tyre gives a tyre wall height of 88.5mm. smile

Sorry - quite right. Looks like 30mm though!

You do realise you'll ruin the ride and the larger tyres will wear more quickly. General consensus is that 19s are the best option. Which is why I flogged the 20s that came on mine.
