Hi,
my Chim Gkn diff has a small leak at the right and is actually at my local garage, but I don't know how to remove the output shaft to change the seal!
on the pic it is the blue arrow, it is a Maserati diff but I think it is the same as the chim.
If you can help, thanks in advance!

I have the same issue and I have the seals ready to go in but I'm plucking up the interest to do it. There is a circlip which holds the flange in place and is just visible where the shaft of the flange goes into the diff (no doubt it'll be covered in grime), but it all looks very tight. May need some stout bent nose pliers. A previous thread included suggestion of taking the diff right out, on the basis it would be easier over all. Then could address bushes etc

I reckon this post sums things up very nicely, those circlips will be a bh to pinch in situ frown

Yes you can wink but getting the new seal in the diff housing in situ looks like fun frown

Small leak ~ clean the breather out first, they're not submarine seals just splash 'n dust.

I wouldn't replace the seal without renewing bearings anyway TBH.

It's only the thrust washer/spacer that's tricky to buy off the shelf & easy to have one turned down to spec.

PS, its not a Salisbury Diff, its got Quaffe ATB internals. only early pre 92 GKN's were salisbury friction plate type

How long does it take to take the diff out?
