Hello, wonder if anyone can help me.

I have just ordered a Magnetic Differential Drain plug.

The part is for a Defender, Discovery 1, Discovery 2 and Range rover classic.

Problem is i'm not putting it in any of those cars and will be Drilling and cutting a hole in the rear Diff of my Dodge Viper!

Can anyone tell me the size of the hole and weather the thread is Imperial or Metric? IE if you were to put a normal bolt in the hole, would it be M10,M12 etc

Thanks for the feedback, Yes I don't think it will be wise to start drilling any holes until the part is in my hand wink

Would it be possible to counterbore the one currently in your car and stick a magnet in that?

There isn't one biggrin

I have the diff out of my car at the moment with the rear cover off, while its out I thought I would add a drain plug to the lowest part of the Diff to make changing the fluid easier in the future smile

Easy to do, but just needed to know the thread size so I get the correct Tap wink

Currently you have to drain the diff by sticking a tube in the filler hole and suck out any fluid. Pain in the arse!

Oh bugger!! Where the drain plug is, the material is thicker to give depth for a screw thread, which you may not have if there's not a drain plug anyway. It may be worth welding on a thin nut of the correct size (after drilling a slightly larger hole) to give some meat to screw into.

Alloy diff housing wink And no problem with the depth, there is a thick bit of the casting on the outside of the casing smile

When I get the part I will let you guys know the thread size for future reference smile

Cheers Mark

That is the filler hole, the drain plug is on the underside.
