I was going to suggest this also, all of the Trevor Horn remixes of FgtH were epic but that one particularly.

So instead I'll nominate:



Probably the ultimate in self indulgent remixes, Trevor Horn had the new Synthclavier to play with and the remixing of that track spread to a whole album worth of music, but it's still only really the one short track. Still fantastic.

I have that 12" safe and sound in my collection of ones that I still play from time to time.

The production values on most of his work are incredible.

ABC - All of my heart.... In the "middle 8" of the song, the instrumental break is sublime... And then it builds to the chorus which hits you like a monster truck.

In complete and utter agreement on all of that. Trevor Horn is definitely a genius. The FgtH remixes were all varying degrees of epic. Especially the "specially extended version of Rage hard that was used to introduce you to the art of the 12" (or something like that).

Was playing the Lexicon of Love a few weeks back while driving around with my 4 year old. He picked up the hook and we were wandering around Tesco with a young lad singing "All of my heart doo dee doo dee doo all of my heart".

Personal favourite in the 12"/remix arena has to be the earlier Duran Duran night versions. Which weren't remixes, they were put together by the band performing an extended version of the track.

Marillion - Market square heroes. The title track is exactly the same as on the 7", flip it over to the B side however and it's a different story.

(I agree about the Horn remixes of early FGTH stuff, still have my Two Tribes 12")

I had one of the rarer ones where the labels had been placed on the wrong side - I thought I was sitting on a nice little earner but they'd mucked up quite a few so not really worth anything more.

I also liked the remix/extended 12" version of Propaganda's 'Dual/Jewel' - Mainly noted for it's use for the BBC's World Rally intro music back in the day. Also brilliantly produced by the great Trevor Horn and Stephen Lipson
