Admiral and Elephant Insurance.
Discussion
Never used elephant but I am currently with Admiral. They are fine as I have not had to deal with them for any reason so far. <toucheswood>
The main problem I had with them was the almost daily phone calls for the first month of the policy because I hadnt taken a courtesy car out with the policy. It was only an extra £2 or something each month. They just didnt accept that if I really desperately needed another car there are 3 other cars in the household that I could borrow as Im fully comp on the policy anyway.

I've used both of them, both seem ok actually. Usually give me the best quotes for silly cars for my age, seems Admiral are the best on more mainstream cars like when I had a Clio 182, Lupo GTi etc, but seems Elephant insure the more risky or dangerous cars such as Alfa GTV V6 and S2000.
Only problem I had was once a representative tried to convince me my no claims bonus was incorrect because the no claims stay with the car not the driver :s. He eventually caved when I argued the case that the previous owner had over 15 years NCB compared to my 3 so if he wanted to implement his idea that in fact my quote should cheaper. But all in all they're alright, just think that was a one off rather bizarre experience

Just had a quote from these two, seems reasonable. Any one used them are they ok? TIA.
Do you realise they're brands of the same company? We've used them both. They took our money just fine, and paid for a couple of windscreens, but nothing more serious than that. Then one year the premium went up a stupid amount - they offered a loyalty discount but they were still absolutely miles out so we went elsewhere.

They are both part of Admiral group. Zollar (PHer) works for them, and posts on here in a totally "my words are my own, not the companies'" sort fo a basis, which is quite useful for lots of stuff.Me? I was insured with them before moving to a company car, and the last time I had insurance with them was in 2006. I phoned them on monday to get a no claims letter from the time (because I'm thinking about ditching the company car) and guess what?
Claims letter arrived on Wednesday.
To be honest, I wasn't expecting that. In other words, my only dealins with them have been positive, and that's despite me being a self-confesseed cynic of insurance companies.

I'm with Admiral and can't fault them really. My policy is cheaper than anywhere else. I had an accident last year (no other cars or people involved). Claim was painless and sorted in 9 days. My re-activation of my policy was cheap and done quickly and my renewal is due in May. They've done more than enough to ensure they get my business again next year.
Only problem I have had with them is that they are one company that are far far too quick to get claims handlers involved. While we had cover with them the wife's car was rear-ended by someone covered by Direct Line who I have found are a great company for dealing with third party claims and take it all on board themselves - offered me the option of cash compensation in lieu of a hire car which suited us as we had another we could use, and they uplifted the car to a repairer that we were happy with (Porsche/BMW approved) and returned it to us.
Diamond (the Admiral brand on wife's policy) wanted to get claim handlers involved and rack up a huge bill for a hire car we didn't need and pushed for us to claim for injury. We told them in no uncertain terms to back off and desist from incurring any additional charges, but we still got letters from them saying to contact the handlers with details etc. etc.
They were clearly looking for a cut of the winnings, and this is exactly the sort of parasitic behaviour that is screwing up the whole industry at the moment.

Used them for a few years now, quotes have always been reasonable given the cars I tend to run around in (went through a phase where I'd changed cars 5 times in the space of a few months, one of the girls [Sophie] took a few calls from me and usually started off with "so what car am I changing for you today Seb?")
Renewal last year was about £20 higher than the cheapest quote I could get on the web, but truth be told I'd rather pay £20 extra than go through the faff of having to send off NCD proof and deal with another company selling my details on to their carefully selected spam companies.
Haven't had to claim yet (touch wood etc) but my experience has been, on the whole, positive.

I'm with Elephant, 2 claims open at the moment
One not my fault, car reversed into at car park - one my fault, nudged another car at a roundabout.
second claim happened 30th January and is ongoing thanks to a fraudulent whiplash claim by third party.
First claim occured on June 30th 2012! they go weeks on end without contacting me, then when I call them, I'm fobbed off with some ridiculous pile of bumf and lies.
Not the best company to claim for, they instantly palmed my cases off to other assessors... And this is the result. Tread carefully.
